OKN1 – A Fresh Take on Casual Dining in Hoxton
Tucked just off Hoxton Square in the heart of East London, OKN1 is more than a restaurant. It is a creative, food led space where the next generation of chefs and hospitality talent can learn, grow and find their voice. Awarded an AA Gold Rosette, we pair a relaxed bistro atmosphere with fine dining finesse, serving bold seasonal cooking at exceptional value, always made from scratch and driven by the best produce available.
But OKN1 is also a platform. We champion authenticity, creativity and new ideas through chef residencies, collaborations and events of all kinds, from pop ups and takeovers to community gatherings, workshops and private dining. Our open kitchen and garden space are designed to bring people together, whether you are dropping in for a quick bite, settling in for a long lunch or hosting something special.
We are available for private hire, kitchen hire, residency and popup hire and events hire, and every booking helps power our mission. All profits go directly into education and training, supporting the future of hospitality in Hackney and beyond.

Our Chefs
Our kitchen is led by professionals with experience at top London institutions like Dean Street Townhouse, working alongside trainee chefs and hospitality students as they train for professional qualifications. Alumni include Victor Okunowo, a semi-finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals 2020.
We work closely with New City College hospitality students, offering them the chance to develop their skills in a real restaurant environment alongside our professional chefs. As part of their training, students take part in our regular takeovers — where they design and deliver their own menus. These events give them the opportunity to explore their culinary identity, showcase their cultural influences, and gain valuable experience in running a professional kitchen.
