Our Chefs
Our kitchen is led by professionals with experience at top London institutions like Dean Street Townhouse, working alongside trainee chefs and hospitality students as they train for professional qualifications. Alumni include Victor Okunowo, a semi-finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals 2020.
We work closely with New City College hospitality students, offering them the chance to develop their skills in a real restaurant environment alongside our professional chefs. As part of their training, students take part in our regular takeovers — where they design and deliver their own menus. These events give them the opportunity to explore their culinary identity, showcase their cultural influences, and gain valuable experience in running a professional kitchen.
OKN1 – A Fresh Take on Casual Dining in Hoxton
Tucked just off Hoxton Square, OKN1 is more than just a restaurant—it’s a creative dining space where Hackney’s next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals hone their craft. Awarded an AA Gold Rosette, this relaxed bistro combines a casual atmosphere with fine dining finesse, serving bold, seasonal flavours at exceptional value.

We’re also open for private hire and corporate events—with every visit, you’re supporting the future of hospitality in Hackney. All profits go directly into education, helping to train the next wave of culinary talent.
